I’m sure a lot of you know what I’m talking about. The kids alone can be dreadful: the screaming, the rudeness, the out-of-control behavior. But working at Target, I also get to see the price tag of having a family, and kiddos are not cheap. Diapers for babies, clothes for tots, toys for children, electronics for teens, and food for the whole bunch all add up to big bucks. Some days, I want to flee my register and tie my tubes right there.

Any time I work or stock baby items, the prices shock the hell out of me. There’s a reason the cost of raising a child is somewhere around $200-300,000, as I recall. Of course, living responsibly and conservatively both yourself and as a family, it’s possibly to bring that down, but seriously, how many times does that actually work out?

I see women spending more money on perfume, bras and matching sweat suits at my job than to put their children in suitable clothing and toys, sad to say.
